I've had a Fujistu... something for going on 5 years and the battery (amongst other things!) is just done. I need some brand new tech
I'm pretty in the dark when it comes to this kind of thing and I was wondering if anybody has any advice, or good reviews, to offer me?
It needs to be a laptop not a PC as I'm very mobile. Preferably something with a good graphics card and an ability to run some high end video editing software without a struggle. Nothing crazy expensive, I've got to eat Even better would be if someone could recommend me a type of DELL that's capable of what I'm after as they do a deal with our office.
Let me know, thanks!
Recommend me a laptop?

Re: Recommend me a laptop?
All i can do is say - watch out for the following scam.
I went to Curry-PCW to buy a cheapo laptop. Just before i bought i asked about the guarantee and found it covered the machine but not the software - Win 10.
I needed to pay + £40 to have that prog put on a memory stick
I left

We do not know what your wants / needs are for a computer, you how ever do know, so if one person said this one is good you may not like it because it can not do xyz
If Dell "do a deal with your office" why not ask Dell, or look at Dell kit to see what it is you like?

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.
If gloom had a voice, it would be me.

Re: Recommend me a laptop?
I think it is all relative to experience. I have had about three HP Compaq laptops over the last 20 odd years. They all gave good service so on my experience I would recommend them.

Re: Recommend me a laptop?
hp/Compaq aren't what they use to be, I have had acer intel based machines usually i5 and i7 - I have moved over to Lenovo now, A very nice and solid notebooks for the money - I upgraded mine to 16gb of crucial ram and 256gb ssd
Software is not covered on any pc no matter where you get it from - you want your head checked if you go into pc world for any work
As for graphics on notebooks you either get the Intel or AMD standard chipsets what have come a long way in the last 5-6 years, then you jump up to gaming notebooks at £1400 upwards with nvidia mobile graphics, there is not much of a middle ground tbh
My first laptop was 4-5 months wages iirc that was £4500 at the time (early 486)
Edit. In a office environment they tend to be on lease contracts unless its a larger company with there own in house support
