Anyone into Linux flavours and Ubuntu in particular?

Tried upgrading from 16 to 18 the other day only to find it wouldn't allow my laptop to boot properly and, when it eventually did get going, ran like a slug.

They should ban any OS upgrade that results in slower operation - by law! I mean.... what's the frikken point if it slows your machine down?

Grrrr..... spent an hour reloading 16 (no roll-back feature) and back to 'normal' high speed operation.

Fair do's. I always click on the 'updates are available - do you want to install' button to keep my OS in tip-top condition and fell for the same request when it asked about going from current (16) to 18. More fool me

Anyway the wipe/reload of 16 (and the various updates) didn't take as long as it would have on a Windows machine and I'm back to a (safe) faster version that I'll stick with for a while yet - it's an LTS version anyway.
