Blown plaster
I've had a small bit of plaster come away from the wall, I've removed all the bad to where it is sound again. It is only a tiny area, can I put some ready to use skim straight on top or would I need to pva and some kind of base first? Don't want to buy any big bags as it will be wasted!

Re: Blown plaster
Not sure, guess could of always been like it. Had the damp man round to check and he checked while house and none dry so shouldn't be that. So just one coat of patching plaster? Or would filler suffice?toolbox wrote:Have you discovered why it has blown is it damp?
Should be fine to plaster using a patching plaster from a DIY store, I would not worry about PVA myself.

Re: Blown plaster
You may well get away with filler but do several coats rather than trying to go full depth in one go, I like Toupret filler myself.

Re: Blown plaster
Just use filler (Toupret here too). And if in doubt, if you got a spray bottle spray the surface with some water a few minues before you fill .. to stop any absorption that may be too much for the filler.

Thanks for this, when would I need to use pva out of interest?OchAye wrote:Just use filler (Toupret here too). And if in doubt, if you got a spray bottle spray the surface with some water a few minues before you fill .. to stop any absorption that may be too much for the filler.
