Hi,
My first post.
I have these walls to the rear of my house. It's a Victorian red brick wall which looks like it's been lime washed decades ago and then painted over many times more recently. I'm going to remove this using the services of a sand-blaster. The paint is peeling in some parts and allowing some moisture to go through the walls although it's quite limited. I was thinking of rendering it using a cement mortar. But others have advised me that I should use this. What do you people on this forum suggest I should use to plaster this external wall? Thanks in advance.

What type of render or should I use cladding?

Brickwork shouldn't need painting to make it waterproof, it's more likely that the pointing needs some attention.Ader1 wrote: The paint is peeling in some parts and allowing some moisture to go through the walls although it's quite limited.
Both rendering and cladding are fairly major projects which will need scaffolding of some sort.
S & C render requires a bit of previous experience otherwise it's going to look a mess. If cladding, have you worked out what to do around the windows,(and cills)?
One day it will all be firewood.
