Looking for reccomendations on what to plant behind small garden wall.

Wants to be thirsty as has a small soakaway below. Naughty place for one but it's not draining too much.

Will get up to around 8 /10 hrs full sun in summer and much less in winter if below wall height. Maybe 2 or 3 hrs. Ideally want something year-round colour even if it Just be green.

Anyone got any ideas? Photos to come

A laurel hedge looks good all year and is very tolerant of sun/shade and damp soil, or for a selection of shrubs that grow to about 3ft high there are euonymus plants that are evergreen and come in variegated varieties that will tolerate all weathers and need very little attention.

I agree. A Laurel hedge is a good screen, tough and takes lots of punishment. Care on regular pruning will shape it nicely and keep it tight or if you let it go it will get to 15 feet in a few years.

That was my original idea, but as the planting border isn't following the wall right round I thought might look a bit silly. Ill look at them euonymus plants any others?

found someone selling these cheap locally, look like they are clearing a hedge
Privet (Ligustrum ovalifolium) or Golden Privet
Might give it a go

I deffo wouldn't put Laurel in such a small front garden, A small shrub such as Mexican orange blossom is easier to trim and manage. How wet does that area get because it looks pretty dry from that pic.

It's dry as a nun's at the minute but we have had a period of dry weather. Also the naughty part is that I have directed a small soakaway here to disperse of my parking areas run off. around 36m2. That is what the trench is for, pea gravel and perforated pipe wrapped in geo textile
