I need to weld a nut to a stainless steel tube but I do not have a welder. I do have something called J-B Weld steel reinforced epoxy which I believe is also known as cold welding or chemical welding. I plan to have a threaded rod go through the tube and screw into the nut, and the rod, tube and nut will be subject to a lot of vibration. I wonder about the strength and durability of using epoxy. The product says it can withstand 5020 psi. Does anyone have experience with chemical welding? How does the bond compare to conventional welding? Do you have any recommendations or another way to securely afix a nut to a tube? Thanks

I used it to repair a cast aluminum Pressure Relief Valve on my vintage tractor. It was a pinhole that developed and oil squirted out. The repair was fine
I do not know how it will work for you but it must be really clean to get a good bond. I used carburetor cleaner spray.

I think it is worth a try for six quid.

Without a welder I'd also use a rivnut, for a one-off you don't even need the tool, it can be done without.

You learn something every day. I didn't know what a rivnut was.

Rivnuts are very useful, you can also get them in stainless steel ( a bit harder to install) if OP wants to keep all the materials the same.

UHM Also has his own video (I forgot about this)
