In this video I cut a 57mm diameter hole in a cast iron soil stack pipe. This can be difficult to do as cast iron is tough compared to todays modern plastics. To cut the hole I have used a Starrett 57mm Bi-metal hole saw and arbour. Ideally this job would be done using a mains powered drill but a 18v or above cordless drill will do the job as long as you don’t force the drill. Cast iron is self-lubricating so technically a lubricant is not needed but it is best to use a lubricant to get the maximum life from the hole saw.
How to install the mechanical boss can be seen here- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCSl3S3ebgQ
