Old style Nintendo DS replacing shell?

My oh dropped the youngest's old style (not lite) Nintendo DS console and as a result one hing is broken. I've been looking ar replacement shells on Ebay, they're fairly cheap. I wondered how easy it is to replace a shell. Has anyone replaced and ended up with a working console?

Wow! Thast guy is super speedy.

The only thing is that the broken one is a Nintendo DS not Lite model, so I wonder if it is the same when swapping over the shell as our console is bigger.
