spuvolumewatcher.exe is a process associated with Cyber-shot Viewer from Sony Corporation.

Author:Sony Corporation

Part of:Cyber-shot Viewer

Common Path(s):%programfiles%\Sony\Sony Picture Utility\VolumeWatcher
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"
She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

if you had a recent windows update, that may have overwritten a special Sony file?

in your situation I would be inclined to do one of following:

1) Use System Restore to check what checkpoints have been created and go back to some previous point

2) uninstall & reinstall Sony application
