and job out the way for another 3 to 4 years :thumbright:
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"
She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

We've had 3 lots of bad luck today! Car needed fixing, dog's extendable lead broke as he was on his walk and the oh lost £10 in the Co-op on the way home.

Get it done properly, and let the fitter supply the parts. That way youll have a comeback if it goes wrong not long after.

They may put £20 on the parts, but worth it for ease and peace of mind imo.

£186 isnt bad for a job that only needs doing every 3/4 years :thumbright:

I was expecting over £200 to be honest. I wonder what the average cost is around the country?

my step father got a phonecall when he put his synergie hdi in for a new belt, they'd managed to skip a tooth & there was a hell of a clatter
you'd think a citroen main dealer would know what they were doing wouldn't you?

Why don't they go back to the old engine design where the cam belt didn't destroy the engine if something failed?

I had a cam belt snap on a cortina.

No damage at all, got a new belt fitted and away I went

I think the old designs are better in that respect, just look at all the old minis still around because they can be tinkered with by the diyer. Surely they're greener in that way because only the absolute minimum gets changed, not the whole module!

We had the cambelt go on a Mk5 Cortina, luckily the valve stems didn't bend, cost about a hundred quid for the repair.
I started out with nothing, I still have most of it.

£186? That's a bargain (and really only cost £136 if you take your comp win into account  )

The cambelt went on my Ford Escort and took the whole block with it, cost of replacement - £850! Lucky for me it went when my BF of the time was driving to his parents so they paid for the repair.
Tina

If I can't fix it with a hammer it's an electrical fault.
