Penetrating Damp

Post by Mick »

The west facing wall of my 1960s brick-built chalet bungalow shows some signs of damp inside at various levels. External inspection doesn't show anything obvious, but I guess it's almost certainly rain penetration as it's highly exposed to prevailing wind and rain. The wall has cavity insulation, so it could be some problem with that. I first noticed it when I first moved about 7 years ago, and had the external wall sprayed with some kind of repellent, which did appear to do the trick until now. Shall I go ahead and have this done again?

It could be coming from above, have you had the roof tiles/slates inspected?.............maybe water is getting blown in under the lower courses of tiles and running down the cavity!.................Just another possible cause to eliminate!
