well. its just not happening for me.

Every picture i save, when i save it to my e drive, portable storage, all the pictures , even though saved under different names, all come up the same pic.

as ive said, im looking for shots from spiderman, and to save them somewhere, preferably on a portable storage dongle.

im fed up.

did you try http://www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk/mwsnap.htm

?

If you did and it is not working perhaps the dvd is in a new format that prevents people from taking screenshots?

Yes, download it and the install the program.

Then open up the program and the watch the dvd.

Pause the dvd and then click on the mw3 snap icon in the taskbar and then under the view tab along the top there is a square that is made from broken lines and a red + sign, on mouse over it says snap any area. Click on that and then it will minimise, then click and drag the square to the size of the picture, holding down the left mouse button. When you get to the desired size click the left mouse button again and then it will snap the picture and ask where you want to save it

using the microsoft software is easier to work with as i watch the film on power dvd.

but , still , nothing,
Start, paint edit paste etc, is all fine, and i save them to a portable storage dongle. The pics can be viewed when the spiderman video is still in the drive, but if i take the dvd out from the drive and try and view the pics on my dongle, all that ive captured comes up a black screen only!

::b
Was up to midnight last night and went to sleep well pissed off :angryfire:

wonder is someone here can try and save a few pics with microsofts software?

Hi Dodge - read what you did and thinking "what? load of nonsense" - then tried it and got the same kinda result

The DVD Players put up a virtual window in the screen - some kind of Virtual Aperture which is then used to display the video. All very exciting :? but it means you end up capturing a black hole.

Solution is not to find a screen capture program to do what you want, BUT to use the right program to play the movie in the first place....

goto http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ and download VLC Media Player.
It is the BEST media player by far, it does not care about DVD Regions, it plays just about anything you like, it is FREE and - most importantly for you - it has a Snapshot feature. Just play the movie, pause it at the still you want, click on Video in the VLC Toolbar and then "Snapshot".
PS - you may need to play around with the pausing to avoid a blur inthe capture, same as when you pause a video and get a shake.

Then goto your "My Pictures" folder and you will the snapshots - all called vlcsnap-xxxxxx.png (where x are numbers).
Windows Paint and other programs can edit the .png files and you can then save them if whatever format you like.

The shots I attached here are from VLCLan, first one I paused and the other two captured 'on the fly', then just opened and saved to JPG and used MS Resizer to small small enough to post here.
No money was used to get these screenshots (except buying the DVD  )

HTH :thumbright: (I think it will  )

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"
She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
