What else can go wrong today?
Its raining and the house is empty so you get that feeling of DIY. There's a new tv thats been here like 3 months that is still not on the wall. So I thought how difficult can it be to install a simple wall bracket? Little did I know the instructions were in a complete foreign language. But hey, pictures speak a thousand words, so I set to. First drill 2 8mm holes in the wall for the wall mount. MMMM Im banned from using the Dewalte so I screw in a screw to make a nice hole. I insert the hollow wall plaster fixings to find they dont fit. So having no hammer handy I knock them in with the handle of the screwdriver. So far so good, a little surrounding plaster came off but nothing that wont be hidden by the tv. It then said screw in the screw to a tight fit then unscrew to leave in the hollow wall fixing. Well screw as I might one just kept on screwing in. In fact in was screwed in so far the whole thing went through the wall. So I was left to dig it out using my trusted flat head driver. That left a gaping hole in the wall so I shoved it back in and managed to lodge it somehow. One screw was really tight and the tv cant be that heavy that it cant be supported on 1 and a half screws. So I move on to fix the supporting bracket. Its wobbly but its in. Just needs some muscle to tighten it on. The 2 supporting arms are then screwed to the back of the tv. Other than lifting it on which is too heavy for me I thought Id finished. Only Ive got left like 32 bits and pieces left over!!! Some dont appear on the instructions at all.
I consider myself quite an expert in DIY (when Im allowed to drill) so how the average Joe would have managed to put this together I dont know. But all the leftovers cant be spares as some of the pieces I have'nt used any of them. Talk about frustration. So after an hour Im giving up to wait for the man to come home. So I thought I would clean round a bit as I cant cause any trouble there. WRONG. As Im wiping down the new leather sofa I discover a neat rip about an inch wide on the seat. So the dilema is....do I admit it was me wearing boots on the sofa (but if it was me it would not have happened if someone had not taken a liking to sitting in my position!) and Ive ripped it with my zip, blame the rabbit as she had her nails done on Thursday, or blame the man just cos like everything is his fault? Think I might just sit down and watch a movie now just to keep out of trouble. What a day!!

They put loads of spare bits and bobs in them bracket kits i found, i think half of them are for different mountings on the TV itself...
The sofa, well, if you do wear spike heeled boots on the thing....
Wouldnt have thought a zip or heel would do damage in normal sitting type circumstances though
