Light switch, One indoor and one outdoor.

Post by briansmad »

I have a lighting circuit in my garage, There is one wire from CU going to switch and one wire going from switch to all of the lights. Can i install a second waterproof outdoor switch using the existing configuration or does the wiring method need changing???? Thanks.

Hi,
and welcome to the forum.

You will need two way light switches and some three core cable that will span from the existing switch to the new switch.

You can make it into a two way system easily, instructions are here-

If you get stuck lease post back and someone will try to help.

the only difference is that in the back of your existing switch box you will have two neutrals joined together in a connector block. Leave these as they are, and then just run a 3 core and earth cable through the wall to your new switch, make sure you seal the hole with silicone or similiar. Connection wise, see UHMs link for connections, ANy probs get back to us here or feel free to PM me

Nick
If it isnt broke dont bloody touch it until it bloody well is and if it is broke then make drawing of the connections before you remove the broken one and replace with a new one LoL
