MOT Database

Post by Hitch »

I know theres an online database that enables you to find out if a vehicle is inured.
But is there one for MOTs?

DVLC know if it's taxed, insured and has a current MOT.

If you tax online they have all that information on the data base, the only snag being, if they run out at the same time, it takes up to 14 days to get on the system ::b meaning you can't register the vehicle.

Answer is yes!

Question now is "where is it?"

I'll have used it - I'll see if I can find it. I am pretty sure to be able to use it, you need more then your Reg number - pretty sure you need the V5C reg document number as well.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"
She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Not sure where you get your information from but its incorrect.

MOT and Insurance are separate databases. MOT by DfT and Insurance is by the governing body (the name escapes me now). DVLA just access the db when renewing your tax. MoT is straight to computer now as the piece of paper they give you is of no legal benefit therefore information is real time i.e as soon as the car is MoT'd you can access that info.

Don't know where they keep it or what it's called, but when I tried to tax the motor online, it said my insurance wasn't in the computer yet, and normally takes 14 days, they had all my other details.
