tile over tile

i am to tile over tile i was looking for any advice on the type of preparation and adhesive to use.

i am well aware some guys say removal of old is a must but the job is for my mate. he doesnt want the hassle of removing the tiles and having to plaster on the solid wall.

the tiles are solid mind
