Help with Bosch 6 115 Angle Grinder

Post by furkin »

Hi all,

1/ Adapter:
Is there such a thing as an adapter to allow me to use Flat 4.5" cutting discs on my Bosch angle grinder ?
It usually uses cupped discs,,,, or as I now see are called 'depressed' ?!?! (poor sods).
I have a couple of new diamond discs that I bought for the machine some years ago, so am annoyed that they don't seem to fit now.

2/ Cupped Diamond discs:
Have looked on auction sites for - what I thought would be - a couple of diamond discs for metal cutting, with a depressed centre,,,, but can only see flat ones in diamond form.

so come on guys 'n gals - am relying on you.

cheers

PS: also need disc removal spanner !

I would think you should be able to use flat ones without a problem, have you got the nuts round the right way? :scratch:
Whats the problem with flat discs? they hit the guard?

On the spanner, i never use them, you should be able to udo and tighten it sufficiently with your hand.
If it does go tight, and you struggle to undo it, give the edge of the disc a fast knock on the edge of something like a brick/bench...

Diamond discs, are for masonry, you want the normal abrasive type for cutting metal.

many thanks Hitch,

Yep, the nuts/collets etc are the right way around. The 'seating' one has a almost oval shape recess for the base of the spindle to fit into, to prevent spinning.

The locking collet is flat on one side, & a seating to fit the disc bore on the other.

Yep, the flat discs hit the guard.

I did actually think that the diamond ones were for stone etc, but it's been a while since I used it.

I have 3/4 diamond ones & 3/4 normal for stone & metal,,,, but all flat - so I gotta be able to use 'em.

Popped in B&Q yesterday, they are very very limited in discs, in fact my Penzance branch only has ONE sort of 115 disc,,,, - of course - it's flat.

I rekkon that if I can get another locking collet/plate, would do the trick. Tis thick enough for my needs * has a recess for the disc bore. Are they available as 'spares' ?

thanks for replying,,,,,

You should be able to use flat discs on any angle grinder :scratch:

Yep - that's the bit. Some people think it's turn-over-able !

It isn't threaded and can be turned over,,,, but it dosn't help.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think I could screw my existing locking plate right down to that collet,,,, before the disc,,,, if I had another locking collet to hold the disc in place.
There are some 'spannerless' ones out there, but a bit expensive when a spare locking plate/collet would suffice.
thanks
I've just stripped it down & cleaned it up.
It is now better (than it was) but until I try using it am not sure if it is enough.
If there is a specific 'fix' then i'd still appreciate hearing of it, but in the meanwhile, i'll put up with it.
I will try contacting Bosch for a definitive answer.
thanks all for reading,,,,,
I think a picture is needed mate... looking straight at the spindle end, nice and square on...
Maybe the guard has got bent..... or could get bent :wink:
As for B&Q for discs, dont bother, you would beable to buy a 10pk and pay postage from most places, for what B&Q charge for 1 or 2 :shock:
