Removing old tiles round a bath

Hello. I want to put in a new bath and re tile. The existing tiles are too low so can't tile over them so they are coming off. If after taking them off I am left with large areas to fill before tiling, what would be the best stuff to use, bearing in mind I want it as flat as poss?

use hardwall or bonding plaster to fill large areas of the damaged wall, remember to pva the affected area prior to plastering it, so the existing wall doesn't blow the new plaster

if you add new plaster to the wall make sure you give plaster plenty of time to cure.
New plasterwork consisting of undercoat and finish coat should have been completed at least 4 weeks before tiling is commenced. Tiles should never be fixed to plaster which is not dry throughout.

Dont fix to shiny plaster if it is shiny rough it up with a wire brush.

Important do not use PVA proir to tiling use something like SBR

Plaster is not a satisfactory base for tiling in wet areas e.g. shower compartments. If the backing consists of existing gypsum plaster seek the adhesive manufacturers advice on suitable waterproofing systems. aqua panel or tank it basically
