Leaking joint between cement sheet roof and wall

Post by onlyhuman »

Hi Everybody,

I have a garage beside the house with a cement sheet roof. The joint where the roof meets the house wall is leaking. It has been sealed with a fillet of mortar in the past, but this is cracked. What would be an effective method of making a waterproof joint here? What material or combination of materials should I use?

Looks don't matter, I just want to do something simple and effective.

Hi,

When you say "cement sheet roof" do you mean Asbestos?
Either way you can chase in lead flashing or for a quick fix use flashband,
But if it is Asbestos be very careful and do not cut it or damage it
If you think nobody cares, try missing a couple of payments..

sounds like a concrete cast in situ roof to me, in which case it is flat?

You need to cut lead into the external wall above the roof abutment, and seal it inderneath with lead filler would be my best advice.

Can you post a pic?
