Wet patch in car

Post by Ace5150 »

Behind my driver seat in the footwell of my Rover 25, it has become very wet. I'm hoping its a blockage or a split seal. Is there anything more sinister that I should cater for, ie, a broken water pump?
No where else is it wet, not even under driver seat and footwell. I'm PRAYING its a spillage that hasn't dried out, but after soaking up best I can, its still wet

Have a look underneath, or under the carpet, perhaps a drain plug has come free, so when you go through puddles it gets in...or perhaps a door seal is out of place?

If you can find anything obvious, sit in it with carpet pulled back, and get an assistant to squirt a hose round it all, aiming at edges of panels, around plugs etc.

If its an oldish one, lookout for the tin-worm ;) (rust)

Do you mean it's in the rear passenger footwell?

Try checking the side window rubbers. If they are cracked or damaged, it can let water in which runs down the inside of the panels and pools on the floor. As also said, remove the drives seat and pull up the carpet to check for any holes in the floorpan or blocked drainplugs.

The door seal is a favourite. Check the top and side edges of the door seal for splits, holes etc. The water running down off the roof will find the easiest way down and this could be causing the wet patch. Have you got a wet vac to suck it out?
