Anybody know the difference between what CCleaner and the Internet Explorer 'Delete" history/cookies etc delete?
Is CCleaner more effective than Internet Explorer?

If I wanted to remove files completely from my PC I would do 3 things
1. Delete the files using explorer
2. Do a search for all files with a part of the filename
3. Run regedit from Start, Run and Search (F3) for the filename and delete
This makes sure that there are no temporary files stored in another location
For internet history you can use clar history in IE, use CC cleaner and repeat steps 2 and 3 above.

I run CCleaner every monday, as well as malwarebites, Register fix, and Super anti spyware pro.
Keeps the computer nice and clean.
Also have Avast the free one, and now HiJackThis thanks to Skiking, although the later is a pain on start up, which is only once a week, but would be annoying if you turn the computer off every time you used it.

Ccleaner is better because it provides a lot more options and does a lot more tasks than the IE8 deleter.
You can set IE to delete browsing history and temp files etc when it closes but run Ccleaner weekly as well.
Check in Ccleaner's Cookie list before running it if you have visited and logged into any new sites that you will be going back to them. Move the cookies for that site over to the right hand list to save them.
