e system Sorrento 1 locking up

Post by steve higgins »

occassionally the screen seems to freeze so I can't do anything other than power down with the power button and start again.I am not exactly good with laptops so wondered if there is anything else I could do which would unfreeze the screen.Cheers Steveh.

Steve,
A couple of things to check first.

It could be caused by overheating.
Turn off and disconnect.
Check that the vents underneath are clear of fluff and dust.
Laptops should not ben used on laps, the fans suck up all sorts of fluff off clothing, cushions etc.
Once the vents are clear, only us it on a hard surface such as desk or table.

If that does not cure the problem, it may be a virus.
Update your antivirus program (and all your security programs).
Reboot into Safe Mode by tapping the F8 key as soon as it begins to start.
When in safe mode run a scan with your antivirus program and quarantine anything it finds.

Loaded any new software recently?

Try rolling back.

Check all driver (especially the video) updates.
Don't take it personally......
