If you have prepared the soil properly and tamped down the rolls as you laid them then you shouldn't need to roll it for a few years. Rolling only flattens the bumps in a lawn caused by irregular growth, weeds or differing areas of drainage. Your new lawn will be free from these for a good while yet.fred99 wrote: how long should I leave it before giving it a roll?

Ideally you want to leave it until the flower heads start appearing and then trim it so that you are taking no more than a third off the height of the tallest blades of grass. From then on you want to be trimming it a couple of times a week throughout the summer, gradually lowering the cutting height on the mower over the next month.fred99 wrote:Its been down for 3 weeks now and is growing well.
