Makita Oil Problem...

Post by redarmy »

Hello all,

On Friday I treated myself to a new lawnmower, A Makita PLM4601.. anyway, I cant understand the oil guidelines, Basically I just want to know which type of oil to use, whether its 2 stroke or 4 stroke or a universal..

The book is banging on about starting temperatures, what does this mean aswell?

Cheers in advance..

The mower is 4 Stroke so you'll need a 4 stroke oil - somewhere it should say the specification - most likely to be SAE 30.

Cheers,

I really should just stick to the woodworking tools of theirs....

So basically I fill with 4 stroke and then with unleaded fuel and off I go?

Oh and Darren, its does say SAE 30.

Cheers again

Yeah fill the oil sump to the required mark with oil and then fill petrol tank with unleaded.

I saw SAE 30 oil (also known as Lawnmower oil) in Tesco this week for £2.99 / litre which is pretty cheap.
