New Strimmer - any recomendations

Post by thedog29 »

Hi folks, just looking a bit of advice as their isn't to much on the web in the form of reviews etc.

i bought a Black and Decker GL701 in homebase the other day (it was an impulse buy) when i got home i checked it out on the net and after reading some reviews i brought it straight back without even opening the box. i exchanged it for the Qualcast 18v cordless trimmer which i got for £39.99 instead of the £59.99 price in store (Argos had it on offer for this price and since Homebase & Argos are sort of the same company i chanced my arm)

Unfortunately i wasn't impressed with the Qualcast. After charging the battery for 5 hours i tried it out on the garden and it lasted a mere 15 mins. (nowhere near the 30 mins i was expecting) so of to Homebase again for a refund this time.

so here i am none the wiser and was wondering if anyone has any recomendations.

I know the new Li-Ion batteries are far better than the Ni-cad ones but i'm not sure if i want to risk the cordless versions again.

Get a petrol one, they are so much better. This is a good buy for the money https://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stor ... temDisplay

that link didn't work but i checked out Argos and i think i know the one your talking about. Didn't really want to get a petrol one but might consider it given the price £59.99 (that's a steal)
