This is an odd problem but that does not sort it out.
The vehicle has not been used for a few months and although the tailgate was opened every few weeeks.
Now the lock feels totally normal when operated with the key but will not open the tailgate.
Any suggestions on what to do to open it?
Yes, I have squirted WD40 in through the keyhole and around the outside but to no avail.

Not sure if this is the same model, but someone with a similar problem.
It could be that the linkage has come off or one of the rods has worked lose.
Scroll down the page because the guy helping has posted some pictures.

You can always tell a Yorkshireman,

Re: Renault Laguna "S" Reg Estate.
Thanks for that link.
It raises another question of if the battery has to be available in order for the tailgate to be unlocked with the key.
It seems odd that most cars will default to a mechanical unlocking and that raises another question which I will ask about in another thread.
Thanks
Tony
