Granite worktops?

This is just another bit of bad work from what we thought was a craftsman as advertised in Derbyshire life and country!








This was the result we got after paying over £2000 for the granite tops! The whole kitchen came to nearly £9000 and thats a small kitchen. Well the jobs hasn't been paid for yet but after nearly a month you wonder if it's ever going to get done. Any advice would be helpful.

Funny you should say that, the man who "hand made" these units said it was the rustic look after we asked him to refit warped doors! Jokes aside this job has had to be done and re done over and over. Doors were warped (and not just a little) shelves were no fitted correctly, he left with large chips out of the units, the list goes on and on. This job is for an elderly couple who lives in our village, one is disabled, they have been left without a working and safe kitchen for nearly a month.

I will add that the posh price didn't reflect the craftsmanship or materials expected from such a price tag. The fitted hob and oven supplied was the very basic Indesit model. This guy thought he could get away with this but as they have not yet handed over the cash I've advised them not to until the job is done to the high standards promised.

I can assure you I wouldn't pay a penny either.

Have you considered getting a consultant in to make a report, could be worth the expense when it turns nasty, and you can always deduct it from their bill.

That is so shoddy...don't pay a penny..I think directGov has information about what you should do in cases like this...some thing to do with reasonable care etc..

Shoddy work, look at the drawer carcass in the first pic, the top of the upright looks awful splintered to buggery!

9K doesn't get you a loty of kitchen if it is a top end quality hand made bespoke one, so alarm bells should have been ringing.

lets face it you could make a better kitchen working on your tool box lol
