Dont tip the mixer too fast or too far could be a fueling issue due to the angle of thee engine while tipping up also be carefull not to starve the 4 stroke engine of it oil by tipping too far.

At a guess the Honda has a carb with a float and needle valve and is flooding the engine when tipped and a Briggs(Im guessing that was fitted before) had a diaphram carb which is not as sensative to being tipped up. Chain saws and strimmers have diaphram carbs.

So the engine although the best petrol stationary engine is probably unsuitable for the application. Post up a pic of the carb please.

hi sparky.been on it all day.till i noticed a sticker on engine.i think i.ve found the problem.but have not fixed it.the skicker read.when engine leaves factory it.s NOT.full of oil.it is fitted with a auto. cut out mech.so if the oil is at a danger level(i.ve used it approx.15hrs.)it must have been at that level.so it cuts out so not to damage the engine.i topped up the sump it took just over 1lt.of oil.so i thought brill soughted.now it still will not fire up.engine turns over ok.i wounder if it has cut out switch or something. by the way it.s not honda.it.sa LIFAN-152F-2.5.ELECTRONIC IGNITION.date of man.15.6.2007 person who fitted for me obv.did not check oil level

I'd still have to go with the carb explanation, i once restored an old triumph 200cc tiger cub and the tick over speed would change a lot from being upright to when it was on its side stand :-)
showing how sensitive some carbs can be to being tipped over.
It maybe be possible to keep your new engine but change the carb?
check with the manafacturers

Good Luck
