Door handles in wrong position on kitchen cabinets!

Post by henryb1 »

Hi everyone, this is my first post!

I wonder if you can help and hopefully save me a lot of money.

I have recently fitted a new kitchen from B & Q. It is a walnut laminate varity.

Everything has went well except for when i have came to put the handles on.....2 are in the wrong position!!!

If i move them to the correct position i will have 2 small drilled holes visable in the door.

Is there any way to fill these holes without spoiling the look and without replacing the door?

Many thanks in advance for any help!

Not without a bodge.

Why not just take the doors back and swap them over.

are the handles in the same place on each door? Sorry to point out the obvious but if they are not (i.e. one right, one left) you could just sap them over.

Or are you saying the handle is just slightly out of position?

You will find it very hard to disguise these holes if you move the handles, I think it best that you buy new doors as you will never be happy. You can try wax sticks that are cheap enough to try http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Winzer-Wurth-Wax- ... c4ffed7403

Hi! Thanks!!
Yes i did drill all the holes for the handles.

My specific problem is that i have a tall cupboard and the handles are in the centre of the each of the 2 doors. However they should be lower on the the top door and higher on the bottom door if that makes sense.

Sadly I think you'll always notice the holes if you try and fill them. You could try a French Polisher. Some firms have taken up modern laminate repair but they’re quite expensive.

You could just pack the doors up and take them back as damaged. Just say they've been pre-drilled, scratched, dented etc and that you want a new pair. Most B&Q staff don't really give a damn and will just sort you out a new set. I've done this a few times and to be honest it works.

Or bite the bullet and buy a new pair, then ceremonially burn the old set!
