How do you seal Slate Tiles?

Just installed Slate tile on my front porch, a contractor suggest I preseal it before I grouted it, so I did. I will seal the grout in a day. Do I reseal the slate when sealing the grout? The Sealer works on both....

I appreciate your answer because I was wondering if this was possible. The seal was not a problem and the slate looks really good on my pouch.
