Lights flashing when engine off?

I have an old pug 306, why are the lights flashing on and off when the car engine is off and the keys are in my hand?

It obviously an electric problem but is it easily fixable, without the need for a pro so to speak?

instrument lights
indicator lights
warning light
all the lights
if you tell us which lights we may have a chance
is the flashing rythmic or random
is there any noise or smell
also if they normaly work only with the keys in

have a look at your fuses to check they are dry but dont touch anything if wet

rythmic some thing like an alarm

random chaffed wire salt water casing rouge feed
try wd 40 on the fuses in the dark look and listen for arcing where the fuses are check wires where they go through the metalwork for signs off rubbing

apart from that faulty switch

Does it only start after locking the doors ?

I'd suspect an alarm problem
