Wall tile adhesive

Post by marfulee »

What do people recommend? I bought a few tubs of evostick non-slip and it does not spread very easily...

Or does anyone have any tips for spreading, is it just practice? :)

I have found that the premixed types are hard to spread on as it does not stick on the substrate too well on spreading. I think this is because the manufacturers concentrate on the 'grab' aspect which is the suction it gives when you stick the tile on. Hand mixing powder allows you to make it a little bit more creamy which does make it easier to spread on but the grab is not initially as strong during tile placing. This is not a problem though as long as the mix is not too light and the tiles will not bed and level properly.

I hate tiling.

I found that with floor tile adhesive, I started off with B&Q's ready mixed stuff as it was strenuous mixing by hand, but then I found spreading it and getting it to stick was difficult - then Screwfix had a mixer paddle going half price, so I bought one along with an SDS adaptor. Then went back to unmixed stuff and it was much easier. The mixer has come in very handy for cement, plaster and plasterboard adhesive.

Maybe I need to go find some unmixed stuff then...
