Re: MsMpEng.exe
Aileen,
Are you still using that 10 year old computer and Windows XP?
Because, if so, in the last thread you had running in the Computer Section, you said it only had 128MB of RAM (112MB available).
To run Microsoft Security Essentials on Windows XP you need a minimum of 256MB of RAM, so that will explain why it is not running.
You will either have to increase the RAM (Memory) or try using another antivirus program after uninstalling MSE.
If you uninstall MSE, check to see how much CPU the MsMpEng.exe is using after you get rid of MSE and if it is still a lot, follow the instructions in Pete's link and stop it scanning it's own directory, the second set of instructions in the link.
Get back to us when you decide what to do.

Re: MsMpEng.exe
You are getting a corrupt download. Delete the download file from where ever you put it when you downloaded it, desktop or download folder.
Try another download from:HERE selecting your OS, Windows XP 32bit.
Once you have downloaded it, try to install it, if it installs then uninstall it using the Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs page.
If no joy with that, then try following these instructions. Use the instructions for XP. They involve the Registry so be very careful what you do, or you may be doing another 'revert to factory settings'.
