Industry standard height are now worked out to be within the regs . If installed correctly to line up with a housing unit ( tall oven housing or fridge freezer) then you should have 495 to 500 between w/top and underside of wall cabs.
Check and read the manufacturers instructions on installation distances both for the hood and the oven . MI supercede gas safe. I have installed many hoods with very little gap either side and all has been well with regs and guarantees. I personally prefer a gap either side of a hood. It is far better looking aesthetically than tight up to wall units
and from the clients point of view, much easier to keep clean.

I will post some picture when I get a plan which is right. The arse hole sent some revised plans today and a view looking at the wall with the range cooker .He gave a measurement between the tower unit and end wall of 3042mm,then when you add up the measurement of the wall unit and hood working off the tower unit it adds up to 3035mm!!!! and when you add up the base units and the width of range cooker it add up to 3071mm!!!! so our does that work out. On the plan all he gave was the wall and base sizes plus decor end panels with no measurements of any fillets. as i told him all these should be on the plan its not up to me to work out.i know you have to jiggle the plans about sometimes to make a kitchen fit .But this guy just cant work it out so i will have to talk to the manager, should have done it a long while ago.sorry for ranting on

What company are you dealing with here?

Sounds like you need to change suppliers... or do the plan yourself and just tell them what you want.

Or buy the designer a new calculator...lol ::b

Phill thanks for the reply. The customer wanted to use howden,i have told the designer what I wanted but he still cant get his head round it or don't want to.So i will see what the manager has to say on Monday. If it was for myself i would of told them to stick it by now,but the customer have set their heart on one of their kitchen.

afternoon guys back again.it is sorted out, well i should say i sorted out.i asked for some extra discount for all the running around. So they came back with a new estimate charging me a extra £65 on the last estimate!!!,at the moment i am waiting for the manager to ring back.I would like to tell him to stick it where the sun don't shine but the customer have set there heart on it.Could i go to another branch or do you think they would stick together and stop me buying it.I don't really want to lose it as there is 30sq metres of flooring, skirting and may be some doors as well.

although Howdens are all franchised, theyre not supposed to steal quotes from each other, but they do.
the cad system would pick up that its already on a quote list so you would have to change the layout to how you want it, just dont log the address that its already linked to! :thumbleft:
IF IT WERE EASY ITD B BORING!

Marc1106 thanks for the reply. He got back in touch with me this afternoon, I asked him if I would get a discount and he said he has given me the extra discount on the estimate so when I asked him why he had knock some of my discount down and he was charging me an extra £65 he did not know what to say. I told him if he wants the kitchen to come back with a proper price considering all the hassle I will wait to hear from him.
