Roof Terrace Tiles

Post by Newmski »

Hi

I have recently gained access to my flat roof for use as a roof terrace. The roof has just been newly asphalted and I was advised that I should also tile over the asphalt. I have been looking at 'promenade tiles' to do this job as suggested by the roofer but just wondered if I have any other options i.e. decking tiles, ceramics, regular patio tiles. I'm assuming its a weight issue, but the promenade tiles are quite expensive is there an alternative?

cheers

Tiles for external use that will be receiving foot traffic are not going to be cheap.

Have a gander round the local tile shop and see what they have that are suitable and the prices involved.

porecelain grade 5, is your best bet for wear, frost and also non slip attributes etc, you will also have to allow for gulleys / drainage facilities, remember to allow for preperation to the asphalt, ie: aquapanel over the asphalt prior to tiling.
