vinyl

Post by panlid »

got to lay some ceramics onto existing vinyl tiles. they are well stuck down. i have part primed the floor and patched latex screeded it.
next i plan to prime the whole floor with ball bond primer then i am sticking them down with bal gold star as i dont have to walk on them. it is 2 large rooms and i will be working my way to the door.
am i doing doing the irght thing using the bal bond primer?
the floor has been well scrubed and will be dust free.
i got conflicting advice in the shop so am a bit dubious as i havnt done them on vinyl before.

No need to prime the floor, you're using an adhesive with Porcel bond so just stick straight onto the vinyl.

Just make sure there is no grease on the existing floor, especially if it's a kitchen

aaahhhhhh so what really is the porcel bond?
i screeded the existing kitchen floor as it was tiled and it made a mess of the base when i popped them up.
i now have 2 bottles of bal bond, can i use them to prime walls as i am starting a bathroom next week and cant really be bothered to take them back.

I'm assuming the Porcel bond is just a polymer added to enhance adhesion, similar to putting AD1 into the powder of a standard adhesive.

I think Bal suggest it can be used as a primer if diluted although I would use APD, SBR is more for cement applications I beleive

I would call Bal up, I prefer using APD.

I was tiling a rock face today, had to go up to a 10mm trowel and butter each tile individually , cheesed off to say the least, tiling can be a pain when the walls are bad, customers don't understand why the air is blue
