Anti slip tiles-porcelain?? Nightmare to cut

Hi folks
Just finishing kitchen refurb, and threw the wall tiles up without much issue, but I'm now doing the floor and that is not such a happy place.
This is my first time tiling a floor, so total numpty, but keen to learn. The kit I'm using is borrowed from my kitchen fitter (Old mate of mine) and was perfectly adequate for the ceramic wall tiles, but I'm really struggling to cut the floor tiles.
They are French, anti slip rustic style tiles and no matter how hard I try to score them on the flat bed, they just will not break cleanly. I went back and tried a couple of the wall tiles in case I'd scuppered the cutting wheel, but they still cut easy peasy, but these, errr... blighters.... just aren't playing the game at all.

Am I missing something, are these things always so difficult to cut or do just have inadequate kit?

No, they're easy to snap if you've got the right cutter but porcelain is tough stuff and if your cutter isn't up to it then you're going to struggle.

What do you mean by 'the right cutter' though? Do I need to make an investment in something professional?

What are you trying to cut them with? You need a cutter with enough breaking pressure in the 'jaws' to snap them cleanly. Try pulling the tile a couple of mm away from the back wall of your cutter before you snap it.

maybe its just me being a wimp but would not attempt to cut without a electric tile cutter

I don't know the technical name, but just a simple sliding cutter. I also have a beat up electric saw, but my mate only uses it dry. I'll check it out this morning and see if it works wet and try that. I'll also try breaking them away from the fence

Decided to do the simple thing and just get a decent wet saw. Flew them without further issue, all done and dusted.
