TV spread thin

Post by Pooneil »

I've just given up on George Clarke's Amazing Spaces on channel 4, a potentially interesting and entertaining programme... if it was about half the length. ::b

It's one of those hour long programmes that could easily be fitted into 15 minutes. Apart from the adverts, the other 45 mins are filled with repeated clips and the same arty shots, tedious recapping of what we've already seen and then a look forward to what will be on next weeks show.

Obviously it fills the schedule cheaply but do they think we're brain dead enough not to get bored and turn it off. :cussing:

And George Clarke is a bit of a t*at.
When I heard they'd discovered a cure for dyslexia it was like music to my arse!

Seconded - although MOST documentaries are in this style now. They 'recap' after every break - annoying as fcuk.
Don't take it personally......

Thirded: If it gets dumbed down much more even the dummies will stop watching; although my biggest beef is the incessant background music in every damned programme. ::b

I turn the sound off and put sub-titles on when I watch it now, they can be funnier than the programmes.
One day it will all be firewood.

this is why i tend to watch bbc programs and record commercial programs

you can work out the advert content and off course the reprise content
my freeveiw box allows 1/2-1-2-3-5 mins skip i normally press 5 times for 5 mins then flip back if required
the average program is around 40 mins so i spend perhaps 2 mins an hour farting about or missing adverts as i am on the forum lol but at least every 3 hours i have watched 4 hours of prime time eeehhh tv :huray:

I didn't mind it too much and makes a change from "the only way is dancing on ice/z list celebrity etc" but is it not the same as Kevin McLoud's shed program? BBC give me lots of money to make a caravan with a side that drops down....

Sky plus is great. These types of repeat the story after the ads as the viewer has the memory of a gnat are really annoying. Judicious use of the fast forward allows you to self edit out the pap.

whilst we are talking about adverts
itv replayer seems best to use it late at night or very early morning as the normal advert rules seem to apply as in
the adverts must be no more than something like 12mins an hour average so you will get say 18-20 mins in very popular programs so to balance it out the have little or no adverts at horrendously late oclock
