I had a wood burning stove fitted about two years ago and at the time the guys said I didn't require any protection on the walls behind the stove. However the plaster behind the stove has become badly cracked and I was wondering if I could place the reversible laminate back panels I've seen in B&Q on the walls behind the stove?
The stove is a Stockton 5 if that makes any difference.

Re: Back panel for wood burning stove.
Thanks Big-All
They're back panels for electric/gas fires so I assume they'll provide some form of heat resistance but not sure if they're suitable for stoves. I had it fitted by the company I bought the stove from so I'm taking their word that the distance between the stove and walls is sufficient, that's why I as looking at a more decorative back panel rather than the vermiculite boards.
Here is the link to the panel I was looking at.

Thanks again

The laminate panels are no good for what you intend.
Use Fire board, or as Big Al suggested, spray it Matt black for a tidy job.

Re: Back panel for wood burning stove.
Thanks for the reply.
Are the panels just not suitable or is it their lack of heat resistance. If lack of heat resistance would I be able to attach these panels to the fireboards and place them behind the stove.
Sorry about the double post big-all must have been my phone.

Re: Back panel for wood burning stove.
If I remember correctly those panels are made by a company called Wunther Browne ? might be worth e-mailing them after the hols to see whether or not they are suitable..
Edit...close ....Winther browne... http://www.wintherbrowne.co.uk/index.ph ... fireplaces
Edit 2...probably not then http://www.wintherbrowne.co.uk/ in administration....
Edit 3... I'm a bit sad about that really. I used their panels as "splashbacks" in the kitchen ..infact the first post I made on here was asking for help on how to fix them...How many posts now??

Re: Back panel for wood burning stove.
Im a bit late in the post. I use to work for B&Q and those panels are a NO for the stove. The only thing they sell that clears fire regs for the stove is cement board. It will be in the building area.
