Returning this morning from a consultancy job abroad, the better half agreed to come pick me up at the airport.
Exactly as she did in October when she last came to pick me up, she 'didn't notice' a concrete pillar in the multi-story parking as she drew into a parking space. The near side of the car has been obliterated, mashed, smashed, mangled, crushed, wing mirror hanging by a cable, both front and rear wings and both doors rubbished. I was relieved to see there was no damage to the concrete pillar.
Three weeks away, happy to be home again, and I find myself looking at a car-wreck. Same parking lot as in October, five slots away from the previous 'invisible pillar'.
Better half growled - 'Don't say a bloody word'.
Called the insurance company and my excess will be 350 quid. On Monday they'll send someone to collect the car and leave me a courtesy job.
Next time I'll definitely take a taxi.
This cautionary tale goes to show that sometimes lightning does strike twice, and when the better half growls bite your tongue..

Glad to see that you can still see the lighter side....
