Looks a nice job and 100 times better than the oap wee smelling room it looked like before.

Shame about the skirting at the bottom of the tv unit, there is quite a few ways to do that without plastic cups and covers.

Did your gas fitter get rid of those naughty compression fittings for you when he capped off the gas or have they been left and buried in the wall?

All in all a great looking room now.

Both false walls have been cupped an screwed so I can gain access to the radiator pipework, not the best of finishes I know but this was the only thing I could come up with becuase if we had a leak I'd want to get behind their as quick as possible without causing to much damage. All the rest of the skirting has been counter sunk, screwed and filled.

Compression fitting on the gas was temporary so I could get the fire out and make way for the beam etc, had a gas safe engineer round who soldered an end cap on for me for and then I boarded it. Nice £30.00 earner for his 5 minutes work

I like the alcove beneath the new TV, very neat.

The previous owners can't really have lived with the TV in the doorway like that, would have driven me mad.
They really did pal and so did we for the first couple of months. Drove us insane, there was really no where to put it unless alterations were made. We thought about the opposite wall but the patio sheds too much light and we would forever be using the tv as a mirror instead of watching it.

It looks like loads has gone into it mate...If I would mention anything, I'd have counter sunk the screws in the skirting boards and filled over but on the grand scale of things, that's being picky :-)

Nice to see you've used a decent laminate too...Quick-Step Elite I believe, how was that to put down?
See above regarding counter sinking etc.

Correct - quick - step elite.

Royal pain in the arse to put down. I've been used to putting cheap laminate down using the laminate tool kit and started using it to put this down. Little did I realise that it requires no tools other than your jig and spacers really as its push fit. 4 damaged strips later I realised this but not all lost because I used the damaged pieces for the smaller planks and trimmed them down.

There is definaltley a knack to the push & click stuff because to start with it was forever popping out and coming apart but after a bit of trial and error you find the best way to do it.

A nice pair of trainers with good grip is all you need for quickstep lol. you chose a good product there.

£30 for 5 minutes work. we get those comments quite a lot. This is how we reply to clients. 'Yes it was only a 10 minute job, but it was another 5 minutes to get the tools in the house, 10 minutes to do what you requested, 5 minutes to test it was safe afterwards, 5 minutes to tidy up and get tools back in the van. 5 minutes for him to itemise his daily time sheet. So 30 minutes total for the job. Plus we have the staff in the office who were involved in the process also. His Gas Safe course and membership, insurances, van, VAT, profit etc etc.

Going back to your flooring......I have sub contracted floors for years and without fail the comment I get most of the time is, 'it won't take you long because it is only a hallway'. Sometimes there is more involved than clients seem to think they are getting for there money.

Yes!! A three square meter hallway with five doorways, stairs and radiator pipes, 'should only take an hour' Yea right..

A pokey toilet, hiding under the stairs with not an inch of space..'should only take an hour' Yea right..
Royal pain in the arse to put down.
That does surprise me JD, believe me, there's a lot worse out their. Does look like you've done a good job though, troubles n all..

Looks brilliant and an amazing amount of work has gone into that.

Genuine question, what happens when you change the speakers or telly? I guess you need to find a replacement with the same external dimensions?

You got it mate. TV & speakers are brand new and I went for a decent spec so hopefully wont have to change for a while

Worst case: it comes down and it gets re-done
