Floor Backer Board Advice
I have a small bathroom floor to tile (tiles are 300mm x 300m) and the floor in there at the moment is normal PTG pine boards with lino on top, and i want to tile in there so wondered would it be best to just put 12mm backerboards on top of this and then tile on to the backerboards floor size to be tiled is 2m x 2m approx

Re: Floor Backer Board Advice
If the floor is deflection free then yes, overboard with tile backer boards and tile
Certain backer boards like marmox, PCS etc do not add any strength to the floor. Others like Hardie or No More Ply do add some degree of strength.
How you go about it depends on how stable your floor is now. If you have bounce in it (i.e. deflection) then you may need to lift the current floor, strengthen, put the floor back down, then backer boards, then tile.

Re: Floor Backer Board Advice
cheers CR
my floor is very stable there is no bounce in it at all so maybe just a backer board on top will be ok. I didn't know there were different types of boards as you have put in your reply i thought there was only Hardie Backer
