Worst Place you've been for a sporting event

Post by Hoovie »

Hatton match made me think of this ....

Worst - or at least most inappropriate - place I have been for a sports event was for the England-Brazil 2002 World Cup match.
Working in Germany at the time and went into an Irish pub on the way to the office (Game started at 8:30am local time I think) and watched it in the company of a load of mostly Germans, and some Irish and the cheers that went around when England lost a player and then again when they lost was most unsatisfying :angryfire: :angryfire:

I was very pleased when the Germans lost out to Brazil (shame one of them had to win ::b )
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"
She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I was racing at Pembrey in Wales when a rider went down next to me at Honda Curve. For a whole nano second I was wishing I was anywhere else but there. Thankfully he missed me and I gave up my new found hobby shortly afterwards.

Went to the home of the Scum (Leeds Utd) to watch Manchester United play them and I was in the main stand (Leeds supports). Clearly we couldn't cheer on my team without getting our heads kicked in (as someone a few rows behind did whilst the stewards just watched, then threw the Man U fan out ::b ).

Anyway Man U lost 1-0 and we also lost Keano for most of the season ::b - Round 1 with Alf-Inge Haaland (Round 2 was a few years later when he played for Man Sh*ty)

Was that a loss by a header from Harry Kewell?

As it was over 10yrs ago I can only remember the significant points, i.e. we lost and Keano was out for several months. How the goal was scored I couldn't care less

Leeds don't beat UTD often so I remembered that goal, a looping header over the keeper. Having said that, Brian Deane banged a winner in against them as well IIRC but not sure if it was that game or not.

A Leeds fan in Somerset

I thought all southern football fans were Man United fans. Only residents of Manchester either supported Sh*ty or any other team but not Man U ::b

Leeds fan, nope, wrong shaped ball for me. My family come from Leeds and they never shut up about football. I remember having to sit through many a game with them.

Bath rugby is where it is at for me

I'll let you off then

I spent 3 yrs working in Leeds so, as a Man U fan, it was a lonely experience. Probably the only place where you learn to keep your mouth shut about which team you follow
