Hi
I read, with great interest the previous thread about kitchen supply only. I tried to reply to the thread but was redirected to start a new thread, so here goes.
After reading the previous thread I can agree with Colour Republic about Howdens. I have an account with them and would use them but they don't have the range of units and colour matching carcasses. This kitchen is for myself and so far my experience with DIY Kitchens has been a bit patchy, even if only at the ordering stage.
For example I want a mid height unit. Vey simple request. One 355 pan drawer on the bottom. space for an integrated double oven (888mm high) and, finally above that an integrated microwave (355mm high). I have spoken to 3 sales people and all with the same answer, order your unit and add amendments to change the unit. This won't work for various reasons.
My question is simple.. how high should this unit be in total? as I have had various heights given to me. !!

Re: Kitchen supplier/unit and doors
Hmmmm what you're asking for is a custom unit
'Tall' units come in 4 heights for the most part
Studio height - 1250mm
Mid height - 1825mm
Standard - 1970mm
Extra tall - 2150mm
None of the above include the feet/plinth allowance of 150mm, so add this to get overall height
Firstly are you sure the microwave is 355mm? And not 385mm?
Where you might be going wrong is adding up the dimensions instead of the space it is suppose to fill.
For example. Base units are 720mm high yet doors made for these are 715mm. There is an allowance of every item
For example the microwave might be 385mm but the gap you allow for 360mm, the double oven 888mm but the 900mm (but the confuse matters the aperture is 880mm!)
So in your instance, you want a 360+900+390=1650mm high unit, which isn't a standard height unit.
I wasn't aware DIY did custom sizes for their retail customers though? The do for trade but didn't think they did it for people dealing with DIY-kits and not their parent company. In which case just ask them for an 1825mm unit with a 355mm drawer in and 2 shelves, then modify the unit on site to your desired height.
