I recently got given a Hitachi drill/driver, and as i'm looking to start a collection of power tools this looked a good bet. But looking online a lot of the tools for sale appear to be using a different type of battery than what i have. Mine look like this:
Whereas a lot of the tools i see are built for this:
Have i got an old style battery that's being replaced, or are there different lines that use different batteries for some reason?

You are correct, you have an older style tool.
The newer slide batteries are likely to be around for a while..
