When I ripped out the bathroom over the weekend I was removing the old tiles from the bath/shower area and found the plaster was completely blown. Off it all came from one full wall and half of another and I've had a plasterer in today to re-plaster, bonding and then skim onto a brick internal wall.
I asked him how long before I could tile onto the new stuff and he was quite vague.
What's the general recommendation? I've had a search online and seen everything from 3 days to 4 weeks - I'm assuming the 3 days is for just an overskim rather than a full depth re-plaster, but it would be good to be able to crack on with the bathroom without waiting longer than necessary.

Re: Tiling onto newly plastered wall
One of those "How long is a piece of spaghetti" questions.....
The only answer is once it's dry. Without wishing to teach you suck eggs, that will depend on...... stuff.
Obv. the more ventilation you can give it the better.......

Re: Tiling onto newly plastered wall
Funnily enough, that's pretty much what the plasterer said!
So ok, question 2 is - how do I tell when it's dry all the way through?

Re: Tiling onto newly plastered wall
Colour will change...once it's all the same give it another 3 days to a week (With ventilation) just to be sure..
(This assumes you aren't using the bathroom, if you are then wait until you have NO condensation on the windows walls)
