Dunno about smart tv's but my dad has just bought his first smartphone. Whilst I was setting it up for him, I noticed it had taken a couple of screenshots of itself at certain stages during the setting up of things (mainly when it first connected via wifi to his router and when I was setting a password, for the unlock phone screen) Hmmmmmmmm

I bought a portable HDD and connected it to my server for backups. It was NOT a shared device when I left it overnight - it WAS shared when I got up the following morning..........
Call me suspicious but I reckon there are all sorts of 'backdoors' in electronic equipment, probably put there by demands by security services to monitor us all....

i dont do competitions
i dont do "tick to get all our special offers"
i dont do any form/website that requires more than postcode unless i want the services then "irrellivent questions" get an answer outside there target group if they must be answered
no one gets my mobile phone number except the chosen few so no unwanted calls yet
i go through every single website i have to give personal information to and select the do not share option
this includes aol the local council the electoral register supermarket and doctors on line registry etc they all try and make money from your details if you dont hunt down the opt out section

I always use noone@home.com for spoof email addresses they request otherwise they go straight to my yahoo account that I only ever use for spam collection. I'm alaways 99 years old and born on Jan 1.
I suspect many other people are similarly aged and have the same birthday!

I try not to give out too much info. but they still seem to manage to get details. I use Gmail for mail, great spam filters.
I don't answer the phone unless I know the number. They get the answering machine.
Mobile number nobody gets, although saying that I had to give it to Wickes to order some stuff on line the other day. Wouldn't work without it, although they had an email address.
Anyway as far as who listens to what is concerned.
