Combi Ladders

Post by Pixx »

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a good set of combination ladders that can also be used on stairs?

I'm thinking of light trade ones (EN131) about 2.4m closed height, with an extension to c. 5m.

Got some 12' ceilings and hall/stairs/landings to paint...

Thanks ;-)

these ladders are the dogs hairy danglers :thumbright:

If these dont suit, theres plenty to choose from on this site. I can highly recommend this company to deal with..........4 seperate purchases, all next day, good prices

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, many speak highly of the Little Giant ladders, but they're not really tall enough for what I need.

I'm thinking of a set that will have a minimum 8' standing height in the freestanding stepladder mode, with an extension above that height (mostly to hold onto).

These would be possibles, but they can't be used on stairs:

There doesn't seem as many around as you'd think...

believe it or not i bought some off "ideal world" shopping channel on TV. one day i was just flicking through channels and happened to catch this on the channel so i watched it. the advert was as usual, made to make the item look good. it was only £100 so i thought i'd give it a try.

i do practically everything trade wise. these have been the best ladder i have ever used. i am not a light person but these do not bend at all. the advert showed 6 blokes hanging on the ladder at the same time and it did not flex.

you can set it to angles greater than the ones listed in the posts above and it will not topple over because of the wide leg structure. it will bend to 13 different positions and BEST of all, it folds from a 4M length to just 1M. it will fit into a lot of car boots.

one of the most handy things is that you can set the levels to work on stairs. it bends into different size L shapes and then you can use it as a platform too.

below is a very similar one to the one i bought but it appears to be a different manufacturer, maybe that is why that particular one is cheaper. (unless there is a high postage cost, i havn't checked)

in conclusion, there is no way i would ever buy ANY of the ladders posted above as these particular type of ladders i bought beat them all hands down. they reach high enough for 95% of applications and they also get to positions that none of the others can.

i've had that style, very handy & a lot better than the previous ones we were provided with http://www.screwfix.com/prods/12443/Acc ... pic-Ladder
they were fine for a few months then became lethal as they would drop without warning :angryfire:

rich-ando, must admit i didnt get your style of ladder, as it wasnt as useful as the little giant ones. You get a one step different in 23 different combinations with them, and though your type didnt do anywhere near as much as the little giants do.

Also, i couldnt find any of the same high quality as little giants.

Theres a good advert here http://www.littlegiantladders.com/littl ... ercial.asp if anyones really bored

gotto admit i didn't see any of them b4. they look very versatile.

the trouble is as tradesmen we need to see the product with our own eyes to appreciate things. looking at them they appear narrow compared to the ones i have. the feet definitely. only because i have sued these can i verify i am very happy with the strength. to the eye watching the advert, they look stronger to me with less parts to lose.

all said though, they look like a good set and i might just take a closer look when i have some spare cash for another set. how much were they?

This is the type of ladder i use .

It is 8 in 1 and goes from 4 ft - 16 ft high with a 8 ft stepladder.
It also turns into a scaffold.
