Edging consistency and sharp edges

After installing my kitchen I had a professional in to tile above the worktops. However he has used plastic tile edging on the vertical edges but just caulk on the top edges. The result is that the sharp vertical ends of the edging is exposed. Not only a safety concern but awkward to wipe down, as well as looking dodgy. He insists this is how professionals do it and refuses to put it right. I would appreciate the opinions of some experienced tiles

You are always going to have cut edges with tiling... various ways of dealing with it. Pics of yours might help.

I use edging on both horizontal and vertical and it looks good, I am not a professional tiler

That definitely isn't how professionals do it. If he's used vertical trim then he should have used horizontal trim along the top edges, mitred at the external corners. Otherwise it's going to look a complete mess

You could get the matching trim, cut it down so you are left with just the trim you see and glue to the top of the tiles.
