Split face tiles on chimney breast

My missus has seen some black split face tiles in Wickes and the image online shows these applied to a chimney breast so, lo and behold, she now wants the same on our chimney breast. I'm not a professional tiler by any means but am quite capable of doing a half decent job with flat tiles but these put the fear of God into me :D

Could anybody give any tips, mainly on how to fit around an external corner? The image that Wickes show looks like there's no beading used and I assume all the edges of the tiles have been mitre cut and butted together (like skirting board would be) - would this be the case?

Any tips greatly appreciated :)

even pro-tilers walk away from those tiles (with exceptions) they are a bugg3r to get right..

As Wine~o says, they are not for the faint hearted, I did a bathroom feature wall with them a few years ago and never again do I want to install them. They delaminate as you cut them, they totally vary in thickness from a few mm to 15mm, which makes mitre corners impossible. I think I tiled the window reveals 1st, trying to find a uniform thickness and then tiled the main wall up to them.

Thank you all for the advice. Darren - they look mitre cut to me :D

I think we're going to have a look at a few suppliers at the weekend and take it from there.

Another possibility I was thinking of was to put a wooden angle (thicker than the thickest section of the tiles) down both external corners of the chimney breast, paint this black, then butt the tiles up to this?

Either way, I'm going to have to purchase a wet cut power saw for this so I'll get one capable of doing mitres so I have that option.

P_o_r_c_e_l_a.n.o..s.a had some like that ;-) Pay a visit if you got find a showroom near you. In Glasgow they are next to the Porsche showroom ... you could be in luck.
